서양화를 전공한 작가는 어린이를 위한 미술교육 프로그램을 개발하는 데 관심이 많았다. 특히 놀이를 통해 촉각을 느끼며 체험 학습을 하는데 필요한 캐릭터들을 작품으로 만들었다. 아이들의 성장에 시각 훈련도 중요하지만 촉감을 자극하는 소재로 직접 이리 뒹굴 저리 뒹굴 굴려볼 수 있도록 의도된 작품들이었다.
이번 전시에 출품하는 〈공손이와 친구들〉은 마치 어린이만화 속에 나오는 의인화한 캐릭터 같은데 이를 오브제로 제작한 입체 조형물이다. 아이들이 좋아할 만한 이미지에다 관객들이 쉽게 움직이게 동글동글한 형태를 가지고 있던 데서 손발을 다 갖춘 모습으로 새로 형상화했다. 보통은 실내에서 이리저리 굴러다니며 제 역할을 하던 것에서 야외 설치 조각으로 당당히 서 있는 모습을 발견할 수 있을 것이다.

The artist majored in Western painting, has been interested in developing art education programs for children. In particular, characters necessary for tactile and experiential learning through play were created. The works are intended to allow children to roll around using materials that stimulate their tactile senses,

〈Gongsony and friends〉 is a three-dimensional sculpture created as an object that looks like an anthropomorphic character from a children's cartoon. Initiatively it started as an image that children would prefer with its round shape that made it easy for the audience to move, Now, image completed with hands and feet. Normally, it would roll around indoors and play its role, but viewers can find it standing imposingly as an outdoor installation sculpture.
